We teamed up with GMK Bordeaux designer, Kevster, to create a unique, limited edition version of the IRON165 r2.

Many moons ago, before we came up with the name for Plum, Bordeaux was one of the names we deliberated using. When Kevster approached us we jumped at the chance to revisit Plum, a natural fit for this beautiful set.

Traditionally the IRON165 features a color top and accent base. On this special edition the board will be top to bottom bedecked in Plum and clad in copper.

The rune on the IRON165 badge is normally our Sowilo + Raido bindrune logo, but for the Bordeaux special edition we created a new badge. This features a nod to the Greek god Dionysus, patron of wine, pleasure, and festivities. It is accomplished by combining the runes Jera and Wunjo from our Elder Futhark alphabet to create a desktop amulet generating abundant joy.

In addition to the new solid copper badge anything not plum will be made of solid copper including for the first time since the original IRON165 release, the plate.

WHAT'S NEW - THE BOARD

This latest version includes all the quality-of-life improvements seen in the round 2 and PC release but also goes further incorporating some design changes from both the IRON160 and the most recent IRON Alice keyboards.

Years of community feedback and internal testing once again brings focus back to the gaskets and gasket "pockets" where less compression and surface area is preferred. With gaskets now smaller and the "pockets" deeper the plate almost feels like it's floating in space. This leads to the best typing experience ever on the 165 and makes the board far easier to build.

The Bordeaux edition is the first time an IRON has been offered in all one color without a top and bottom contrast. This is also the first version of the board to feature our amazing Plum colorway since the very first release many years ago.

WHAT'S NEW - PLATES AND PCBS

The default FEA-optimized plate and ALL pcbs will now support both bottom row configurations, 6.25u (ANSI) as well as 7u (Tsangan). While we are still committed to offering force-analyzed fixed plates for the IRON series they will only be available as extras to avoid confusion when ordering.
